Coolant Maintenance, the “Cooling Guard” of the Engine
The core function of coolant (commonly known as antifreeze) is to cool the engine, prevent the engine from being damaged by overheating, and at the same time prevent freezing in winter and corrosion of the engine cooling system. Daily maintenance needs to be focused on. First, regularly check the coolant level to ensure it is between the MIN and MAX scales of the reservoir, and supplement it in time if it is insufficient.
Coolant does not need to be replaced for life. Ordinary coolant is recommended to be replaced every 2 years or 40,000 kilometers, and long-acting coolant can be extended to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers. For the specific replacement cycle, refer to the vehicle manual. When replacing the coolant, choose the product matching the vehicle model, and do not arbitrarily mix coolants of different brands and models, so as to avoid chemical reactions and damage to the cooling system.
Daily attention should be paid to checking whether there is leakage in the cooling system. If there are colored liquid traces on the ground, the fault should be checked and eliminated in time. In high temperature in summer, avoid opening the reservoir cover after the coolant boils. Wait for the engine to cool down before operating to prevent scalding.
